A powerful and refined white wine from Alto Piemonte
Although this wine is made from 100% Erbaluce, the grape’s name cannot be used in Alto Piemonte. Our ancestors called this noble white “Greco” – an evocative name that recalls the Mediterranean and Greek roots of this ancient grape variety. Erbavoglio Millesimo 2022 embodies this heritage: a white wine with the structure and intensity that earned it the nickname “the most red among white wines.”
ERBAVOGLIO Millesimo D.O.C. 2020 | Torraccia del Piantavigna
Its intensity and length make this wine unique – powerful like a red, yet refined like a white.
Grape: 100% autochthonous white grape
Type: White
Classification: Colline Novaresi D.O.C.
Origin & Vineyard
Erbavoglio Millesimo 2022 comes from the heart of Alto Piemonte, specifically from the Colline Novaresi D.O.C., near Ghemme. The grapes are cultivated on about 4 hectares of vineyard in the Maretta zone. The soil is fluvio-alluvial and clay-rich, with a low pH, giving the wine its pronounced minerality. Sustainable viticulture is practiced with minimal chemical input, and the vines are trained in the Guyot system.
Vinification & Ageing
The grapes are harvested by hand in small crates. After gentle pressing, the must undergoes alcoholic fermentation at low temperature to preserve freshness and fruit aromas. The wine then matures for 24 months in medium-sized French oak barrels, followed by at least 5 months of bottle ageing.
