Fòja | Greco Sannio DOP – Selezione Oro
A bold Greco, a white wine with the soul of a red.
About the wine
Fòja is made from 100% Greco, one of the most ancient and vigorous grape varieties of Campania, often called “a red dressed as white”. Grapes are grown on hilly limestone-clay soils and hand-harvested.
After gentle pressing and cryomaceration under inert gas, the must undergoes static decantation and fermentation in stainless steel. The wine rests on fine lees until February, and is bottled in March.
Tasting notes
-
Color: straw yellow with golden reflections
-
Nose: apricot, yellow peach, peat, almond, mountain herbs, wildflowers and ginger
-
Palate: notes of apricot and malt, finishing with river stone and yellow fruit
Food pairing
Excellent with fish and seafood dishes, shellfish, risottos, pasta with sea or land flavors, and white meats such as stewed rabbit.
Curiosity
The name Fòja comes from the Solopaca dialect and means “impulse, passion, energy” – the very force our growers dedicate to their vineyards. The Greco grape mirrors this vigor in the glass.
