An authentic white wine with centuries-old roots
Erbavoglio is made from a unique, local grape variety that has been cultivated in Alto Piemonte for centuries. Due to an oddity in Italian law, the grape’s name cannot appear on the label, as it is reserved exclusively for the tiny D.O.C.G. Erbaluce di Caluso. Nevertheless, it is the only grape permitted for D.O.C. Colline Novaresi Bianco. This is how the name Erbavoglio came about – a wine that reflects tradition and identity.
ERBAVOGLIO D.O.C. Bianco 2024 | Torraccia del Piantavigna
Fresh, refined, and gastronomic: a wine that combines elegance with vibrant freshness.
Grape: 100% autochthonous white grape
Type: White
Classification: Colline Novaresi D.O.C.
Origin & Vineyard
The grapes come from approximately 4 hectares of our estate vineyard Maretta, located in the D.O.C. area of Ghemme. The soil is fluvio-alluvial clay with a low pH, giving the wine pronounced minerality. Sustainable viticulture is practiced with minimal chemical input, and the vines are trained using the Guyot system.
Vinification & Ageing
The grapes are hand-picked in small crates. After gentle pressing, the must undergoes alcoholic fermentation at low temperature to preserve the fresh fruit notes. Unlike its bigger brother Millesimo, this wine does not age in wood, but 5 months in stainless steel tanks, followed by 1 month in the bottle.
